Basert på handlevanene deres på sosiale medier, har amerikanere potensial til å bruke oppover 59 milliarder dollar, ifølge en ny studie.
Undersøkelsen av 2000 amerikanske voksne som bruker sosiale medier fant at 68 % har handlet gjennom sine sosiale medier-feeds, og gjennomsnittspersonen vil gjerne bruke maksimalt 262 dollar på et enkelt element de kommer over.
Respondentene ble funnet å bruke Facebook (85 %), Instagram (49 %) og TikTok (38 %) regelmessig. Imidlertid innrømmet 75 % at et forbud mot TikTok ville ha «liten eller ingen» innvirkning på hvordan de handler.
Brukere av sosiale medier sa at de liker å bruke plattformer for shopping fordi det gjør opplevelsen enklere eller mer praktisk (33 %), de er allerede på sosiale medier ofte nok (32 %), og fordi de kan se nøyaktig hvordan produktene brukes eller hvordan de presterer (30%).
Folk sa også at de foretrekker shopping på sosiale medier fordi de ser bedre tilbud på sosiale medier (26 %), det er morsommere og spennende (22 %) og det er lettere å søke enn en fysisk butikk (20 %).
På oppdrag fra UserTesting og utført av Talker Research, fant undersøkelsen at 72 % av kjøpene på sosiale medier er uplanlagte og spontane – folk kjøpte alt fra klær (52 %) til gaver (33 %), sko og tilbehør (33 %), skjønnhetsprodukter (30 %) og til og med elektronikk (28 %).
Nær to tredjedeler (62 %) var generelt fornøyd med produktene de har kjøpt gjennom sosiale medier, sammenlignet med tradisjonelle nettbutikker. Tilsvarende beskrev 68 % sin gjennomsnittlige opplevelse som positiv.
Nesten halvparten (47 %) sa at de sannsynligvis ville kjøpt noe sett på sosiale medier hvis de ser andre bruke det, og én av fem respondenter har opplevd en frykt for å gå glipp av (FOMO) fra å se andre bruke annonserte varer.
Selv om 46 % av respondentene rapporterte at de kjøpte varer gjennom sosiale medier som ikke samsvarte med annonsene deres, indikerte nesten tre fjerdedeler at de ville fortsette å bruke de samme plattformene for fremtidig shopping.
En femtedel (21 %) har også brukt sosiale medieplattformer som en måte å delta i live-streaming av shoppingarrangementer, og 83 % av dem kjøper sannsynligvis produkter som vises som et resultat.
«Amerikanernes netthandelsvaner har utviklet seg. Denne nåværende bølgen av shopping på sosiale medier viser den kombinerte kraften til mikromålretting og sosialt bevis,” sa Lija Hogan, rektor for Enterprise Research Strategy ved UserTesting. «Det er enkelt og omfavner vanene folk allerede har utviklet med sosiale medier.
«Sosiale medier spiller ofte på flere nivåer; Ikke bare har du merket som forteller historien, men reaksjonene til kundene i kommentarer fungerer som sosialt bevis – vurderinger og anmeldelser i form av en fortelling. Selv om dette kan være risikabelt, kan tilliten til merkevarer som viser evnen til å være åpne og ta opp spørsmål eller utfordringer offentlig forsterke de positive følelsene kundene bygger.»
Studien fant også at fremfor alt annet bruker amerikanere primært sosiale medier som en metode for produktoppdagelse før de tar kjøpsbeslutninger.
Mange bruker feedene sine til enten å lese produktanmeldelser (22 %), undersøke produkter (20 %) eller få inspirasjon til hvordan man bruker produkter (15 %). Og anmeldelsene kan lages eller gå i stykker: 53 % vil være mindre sannsynlig å kjøpe et produkt hvis de ser negative anmeldelser.
Flertallet (88%) sa at de sannsynligvis ville stole på andre, inkludert familiemedlemmer (32%), venner (28%) og betydelige andre (14%), for å vise dem produkter de ønsker.
En tredjedel (35 %) sa at de ville stole på at influencere vurderer produkter, men mange sa at de ville miste tillit hvis de fikk vite at influencere ble sponset av selskapet hvis produkt det er (28 %), hvis anmeldelsen er partisk (26 %) eller hvis de ikke påpeker noen ulemper (26 %).
Videre sa 58 % at de ville rulle forbi et sponset innlegg på sosiale medier.
37 prosent sa at de pleier å enten elske eller like annonsene de ser, og nevner annonsene som nyttige måter å finne nye produkter de aldri har sett før (66 %) eller vise dem hva som er trendy for øyeblikket (35 %).
I mellomtiden er 18 % ikke glad i annonser, og sier at de forstyrrer måten de bruker sosiale medier på (63 %) og ikke er interessert i å se hva som går viralt (44 %).
«Folk har alltid verdsatt meningene til venner og familie når de handler, men shopping på sosiale medier legger til en annen dimensjon ved å la shoppere observere andre reagere på anmeldelser og dele sine erfaringer med produkter,» la Hogan til. «Når verdien av vurderinger og anmeldelser øker, vil folk legge mer tillit og vekt bak andres direkte erfaringer med produkter når de tar kjøpsbeslutninger.»
