Det er endelig sommeren til George.
Fredag kveld før kampen deres med Red Sox, ga Yankees ut den etterlengtede bobbleheaden til George Costanza, karakteren fra hitcomen «Seinfeld» fra 1990-tallet til de første 18 000 fansen på Yankee Stadium.
Det skapte mye buzz på sosiale medier, med fans i ballparken som viste frem sin nye figur av den fiktive Yankees-assistenten til den reisende sekretæren.
Og, to dager senere, svarte Jason Alexander, som spilte Costanza i programmet i ni sesonger, på alt ståheien rundt boblehodet.
«Jeg er så glad Bobblehead George var en fanfavoritt,» skrev Alexander på X på lørdag. «Nei, jeg får ingenting for det bortsett fra gleden over at 35 år etter å ha tatt på disse brillene, nyter folk fortsatt arbeidet vårt. Showet var en gave fra deg til oss. Takk for at du holdt den i live.»
Alexander, den 64 år gamle innfødte i Newark, New Jersey, avsluttet med en vits som gikk tilbake til den tredje episoden av programmets siste sesong.
«Ro nå,» sa Alexander.
Det kan være en passende setning som «Seinfeld»-fanatikere som ikke var heldige nok til å delta på kampen og ønsker å skaffe boblehead.
På eBay er det dusinvis av bobbleheads på videresalgsmarkedet, men noen selges for så høyt som $214,99 – pluss frakt – for alternativet «kjøp det nå».
Imidlertid er ikke alt håp ute for de som er troende tilhengere av den langvarige komedien.
Brooklyn Cyclones, Mets’ High-A-tilknyttede selskap på Coney Island, er vertskap for sin årlige «Seinfeld»-kveld og gir bort en Costanza-bobblehead som en del av kampanjen.
Spillet vil inneholde opptredener fra skuespillerne Jeremiah Burkett (som spilte Jean-Paul) og Richard Fancy (som spilte Mr. Lippman) og inkluderer en Elaine Benes dansekonkurranse.
