En kamp mellom ikoner.
Anna Wintour og Naomi Campbell startet en feide da «Vogue»-redaktøren, 74, skygget for den britiske supermodellen, 54, for angivelig å ha kommet for sent til Fashion Rows Fashion Show og Style Awards i Harlem, New York tirsdag kveld.
Wintour tok scenen for å dele ut Fashion Icon Award til Campbell, men hun ble tydelig merket av at Campbell ikke hadde dukket opp til arrangementet ennå.
«Jeg er en veldig punktlig person, og jeg har æren av å presentere i kveld for noen som ofte kommer for sent,» sa Wintour mens publikum lo.
Wintour dro etter talen.
En kilde som er kjent med situasjonen fortalte utelukkende til The Post at Campbell faktisk ikke var sen til arrangementet. Hun skulle snakke klokken 19.27 og ankom arrangementet klokken 19.26, mens Wintours tale begynte klokken 19.15
Innsideren sa at Campbell og teamet hennes dukket opp til stedet akkurat da Wintour dro.
Wintour, ifølge kilden, ønsket å reise tidlig slik at hun kunne delta på US Open. Wintour ble fotografert på tennisturneringen tirsdag sammen med datteren Bee Shaffer.
Kilden sa at Wintours avgang var «skuffende» for de tre unge designerne som var på arrangementet og håpet at Wintour ville se deres utstilte design.
Innsideren avklarte også at Campbell ikke visste hva Wintour sa om henne, men visste at Wintour dro tidlig, da det var hennes tid for å snakke.
Campbell tok scenen etter en ny introduksjon fra sjefredaktøren for Harper’s Bazaar, Samira Nasr, og hun brukte talen sin til å klappe tilbake på Wintour.
«Ja, Naomi kommer alltid for sent,» begynte Campbell, «men jeg tror på min høye makt, og jeg vil takke min høyere makt for at jeg har vært her.»
«Det er så viktig at jeg er her i dag, og jeg er beæret over å være her i Harlem. Alt kommer til å ordne seg slik det skal gå. Det var ikke mitt valg å ha den andre damen. Jeg vil mye heller ha dette,» sa hun og gestikulerte mot Nasr.
Publikum lo og gispet hørbart over Campbells «den andre damen»-kommentaren som refererte til Wintour.
«Jeg må si sannheten min,» sa supermodellen også. «Jeg har alltid vært unapologetisk sannferdig, ikke sant? Så hvorfor skulle jeg endre det nå i denne alderen?»

Til tross for den åpenbare skyggen komplimenterte Wintour og Campbell hverandre i sine respektive taler.
Wintour sa: «Naomi er ærlig talt en av de mest fryktløse menneskene jeg kjenner, en egenskap som var tydelig helt, helt i starten av karrieren hennes, da hun begynte å snakke sannheten om ulikhet og urettferdighet. Og dette var på en tid da det ikke var så vanlig å gjøre det.»
«Naomis tapperhet har kommet hele moteindustrien til gode,» la Met Gala-lederen til. «Selv om jeg kan fortelle deg at det å være på mottakersiden av den fryktløsheten kan være – å hva kan jeg si? Ganske spennende? Men det er ærligheten hennes som gjør henne så utrolig å være rundt, en muse og inspirasjon for designere.»
Campbell ga i sin tale et rop til Wintour fordi hun «tok seg tid til å komme hit og gi meg prisen selv om jeg ikke var her.»
«Så takk, Anna Wintour, for din støtte i karrieren min fra 1987, da hun møtte en ung svart jente fra Sør-London på britiske Vogue-kontorer og tok sjansen på å skyte meg,» fortsatte Campbell. «Og så jeg takker deg for din innflytelse og din fortsatte støtte til å presse moten fremover også.»
