Gay var gjest på torsdagens «Morning Joe», der den anonyme MSNBC-verten beklaget den «hellige» veggen mellom redaksjoner og nyheter når det kommer til presidentkandidatene, og la til hvor absurd det var å tro at det var en «moralsk ekvivalens» mellom å kritisere Trump. og Harris.
Gay var enig i at «valget er åpenbart» mellom de to, og antydet at det må brukes en annen standard for Trump.
«Jeg tror utfordringen, ikke bare for journalister, men egentlig for landet, er at ikke bare er Donald Trump en trussel, men, du vet, det senker listen. Så jeg synes ikke det er uakseptabelt. Og jeg tror det er viktig for vår rolle som journalister å virkelig presse alle kandidater til vervet, sa Gay.
«Og det er mange ting vi kunne høre fra visepresidenten som vi gjerne vil høre mer om politiske taler,» fortsatte hun. «Det ville vært flott å se henne ta flere spørsmål fra pressen. De tingene er viktige.
