En profesjonell ballroomdanser har blitt tatt for angivelig å ha krasjet inn i en motorsyklist – og deretter kjørt bort med sykkelen fortsatt fast foran bilen hennes, ifølge politiet.
Rebekah Makenzie Tate, 23, ble arrestert sent onsdag, tre dager etter at John Powell, 34, ble funnet med «livstruende skader» etter å ha blitt slått av sykkelen tidlig søndag i West Melbourne, Florida, sa politiet.
«I stedet for å forbli på stedet eller ringe 911, kan Tate sees kjøre bort med motorsykkelen fortsatt festet foran på kjøretøyet,» sa West Melbourne Police Department.
Overvåkingsopptak viste deretter at hun trakk seg inn på en parkeringsplass «i et forsøk på å gjemme seg» – og deretter forsøkte å «fjerne motorsykkelen fra under kjøretøyet hennes,» sa avdelingen.
Den profesjonelle danseren – som også er pianist og harpist – ble deretter sett for å ringe før han ble plukket opp av noen som kjørte en svart sedan, ifølge rapporten.
Hun ble arrestert da Powell forble i kritisk tilstand. «Kraften fra ulykken førte til at motorsyklistens hjelm løsnet, og etterlot ham midt på veibanen med livstruende skader,» sa politiavdelingen.
En Doordash-sjåfør ute på en levering sent på kvelden, Billy LeBlanc, hjalp til med å redde syklisten etter å ha sett ham ligge slapp midt på veien, rapporterte FOX Orlando.
«Jeg ville ikke ønske det til noen, men jeg er glad jeg var der og var i stand til å hjelpe ham,» sa den barmhjertige samaritanen til avisen.
Tate har blitt siktet for ett tilfelle av å ha forlatt ulykkesstedet med alvorlig kroppsskade og to tilfeller av forsøk på å ødelegge bevis, ifølge rettsdokumenter.
De siste Instagram-innleggene hennes har blitt oversvømmet av kommentatorer som slår mot danseren etter arrestasjonen hennes, med noen sinte brukere som skriver «#scumoftheearth».
Tate erklærte seg ikke skyldig i krasjet under en høring torsdag, der kausjonen ble satt til $15.000 på den ene punkten og $2.500 på den andre, ifølge rettsdokumentene.
