Det ser ut til at Haason Reddicks holdout vil fortsette inn i den ordinære sesongen.
Til tross for en rapport fra tidligere Browns-sjef Mike Lombardi fredag kveld om at Reddick planla å rapportere på lørdag, var det ikke tilfelle, ifølge trener Robert Saleh.
«Jeg vil stå fast på at når han kommer hit, kommer vi til å ta imot ham med åpne armer,» sa Saleh før Jets’ siste trening før deres mandag kveld oppgjøret mot 49ers. «Vi kommer til å elske ham og han kommer til å bli en del av dette fotballaget og han kommer til å hjelpe oss med å vinne mange fotballkamper. Han må sortere gjennom de økonomiske tingene, som ikke er min sak.»
Reddick ble kjøpt opp fra Eagles i slutten av mars, og deltok ikke i vårtreningene og dukket ikke opp på treningsleiren, og samlet opp bøter på $50 000 per dag og mer for de tre førsesongens kamper han gikk glipp av.
For hvert spill Reddick går glipp av, vil han koste seg omtrent $800 000.
Reddick er misfornøyd med kontrakten sin, som gir ham en grunnlønn på 14,25 millioner dollar, men Jets har nektet å diskutere noen justeringer av den nye avtalen hans før han dukker opp på treningslokalet deres.
En to ganger Pro Bowler, Reddick avslo et kontraktsforlengelsestilbud fra Jets før handelen var fullført, men de forventet fortsatt at han skulle respektere sin eksisterende kontrakt.
Daglig leder Joe Douglas sa nylig at han ikke har snakket direkte med Reddick siden han var i Jets-bygningen 1. april og har heller ikke hatt noen samtaler med agenten hans, Tony Dandy, på det siste.
Reddick, som i gjennomsnitt hadde en skygge over 12,6 sekker de siste fire årene, ba om en bytte i begynnelsen av august, men Douglas har sagt at Jets ikke planlegger å flytte ham.
Den offensive linjespiller Wes Schweitzer (hånd) og linjespiller Zaire Barnes (ankel) vil begge gå glipp av kampen mandag kveld.
Schweitzer, lagets offensive offensive linjemann for laget, går på skadet reserve, sa Saleh.
Han vil gå glipp av minst de neste fire kampene. Saleh nektet å si hvilken offensiv linjemann som ville være ledende backup i stedet for Schweitzer, og sa at Jets har alternativer.
