Tyreek Hill var ikke den eneste Miami Dolphin som ble arrestert av politiet før sesongåpningen søndag.
Den defensive linjemannen Calais Campbell ble også satt i håndjern, fortalte han NFL Network-reporter Cameron Wolfe på lufta etter Dolphins’ 20-17 seier over Jacksonville Jaguars.
«For at han skulle sette håndjern på meg, følte jeg en slags måte,» sa Campbell, som prøvde å hjelpe Hill. «Men det viser bare hvor motstandsdyktige vi er. Vi lot ikke det stoppe oss.»
Hill ble varetektsfengslet timer før avspark for det Miami-Dade-politiet hevdet å være en «trafikkhendelse».
Stjernebrede mottaker ble sitert for hensynsløs kjøring, selv om møtet er under vurdering.
«Vi er klar over den nylige interneringen av Miami Dolphins-spiller Tyreek Hill av Miami-Dade Police Department offiserer,» sa direktør for Miami-Dade Police Department Stephanie V. Daniels kort tid etter interneringen. «Jeg har bedt om en umiddelbar gjennomgang av alle detaljer rundt hendelsen, og vi ser også på tilgjengelige kroppskameraopptak. Vi vil gi oppdateringer når mer informasjon blir tilgjengelig.»
Hill fikk til slutt spille, scoret et 80-yard touchdown og feiret håndjern i prosessen.

Den defensive veterantaklingen signerte for å bli med Miami Dolphins i juni.
Campbell, 38, har vært i NFL siden 2008-sesongen.
Campbell er en seks ganger Pro Bowler som vant NFL Defensive Player of the Year i 2017.
Han var også ligaens Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year i 2019.
