Melania Trump dratt inn i Biden-administrasjonen over de høye levekostnadene og adresserte tilsynelatende «innsats for å stille» ektemannen, tidligere president Donald Trump, i en ny video som promoterer hennes kommende bok.
Den tidligere førstedamen la ut det korte klippet søndag hvor hun raskt kritiserte nasjonens tilstand under president Biden uten å nevne demokratens navn, og insisterte på at spenningene rundt om i verden er forhøyet siden hennes ektefelle ble stemt ut av vervet.
«Valgresultatet i 2020 forandret livene våre for alltid», fortalte hun mens ordene dukket opp på skjermen. «Det påvirket vår livskvalitet, kostnadene for mat, bensin, sikkerhet og til og med det geopolitiske landskapet.»
Landet har kjempet for å bekjempe inflasjonen under Bidens periode mens kriger mellom Russland og Ukraina, og mellom Israel og Hamas, har grepet verden.
Melania Trump, 54, hevdet da at landet er «mer splittet i dag enn noen gang før», mens hun satte alarm over bekymringer om ytringsfrihet i USA.
«Det har blitt stadig tydeligere at det er betydelige utfordringer for ytringsfrihet, som demonstrert av forsøk på å få mannen min til taushet,» sa hun i den sjeldne offentlige uttalelsen.
Trump ble slengt med en knebleordre i sin hush money-rettssak på Manhattan, hvor han ble dømt for 34 forbrytelser i juni.
Rettsdommer Juan Merchan forlenget deler av dommen til Trumps dom etter at han først vedtok den på grunn av bekymringer om GOP-nominertes vane med å angripe personer involvert i saken.
Trump, 78, ble bøtelagt med 10 000 dollar for brudd under rettssaken og ble truet med fengsel hvis han fortsatte.
Trumps kontoer på sosiale medier ble også deaktivert kort tid etter opprøret ved Capitol 6. januar, selv om han igjen har lov til å tvitre og legge ut innlegg på Facebook.
Melania Trump økte promoteringen for sitt nye memoar, med tittelen «Melania», forrige uke.
Hun sa at hun håper å gi leserne «sannheten», og hevdet at hun har vært et offer for «feilrepresentasjon» under ektefellens tid i søkelyset.
«Som en privatperson som ofte har vært gjenstand for offentlig gransking og uriktige fremstillinger, føler jeg et ansvar for å avklare fakta,» sa hun.
Boken hennes er tilgjengelig for forhåndsbestilling for $40 med utgivelsesdato 8. oktober.
Donald Trumps tredje bud på Det hvite hus, denne gangen mot visepresident Kamala Harris, er satt til 5. november.
