En tjenestemann i byen i Vermont og hans nye kone og stesønn har blitt funnet skutt og drept i sitt landlige gårdshus nær New York-grensen – med en slektning i bloddekkede klær som ringer politiet til trippelmordsstedet, ifølge lokale rapporter.
Brian Crossman, 46, ble funnet død søndag sammen med kona Erica, 41, og hennes 13 år gamle sønn Colin Taft i hjemmet de delte i Tawlett, hvor Crossman nylig ble valgt inn i Select Board, sa den lokale Bennington Banner.
Den lokale tjenestemannen døde av skudd i hodet og overkroppen, hans kone fra minst ett i hodet og tenåringen hennes av «flere skuddskader», sa Vermont State Police.
«Alle tre dødsfallene ble regnet som drap,» sa politiet.
Den som ringte ventet på politiet på en skole i nærheten, hvor han ble funnet i bloddekkede klær – og førte dem deretter til den grufulle blodscenen, sa uttaket.
Imidlertid fortalte statlig politi til The Post onsdag at det ikke hadde vært noen arrestasjoner i den pågående saken. En talsperson bekreftet heller ikke om det var en person av interesse eller om en slektning ble funnet dekket av blod.
Crossman var også linjemann for Green Mountain Power så vel som det nye Select Board-medlemmet i Pawlet, en liten by med rundt 1400 mennesker nær grensen til New York State.
Han og Erica ble gift i juni, og hadde nylig overtatt det pittoreske hvite gårdshuset – som hadde vært i familien i generasjoner – fra søsteren hans, sa slektninger.
«Det huset er som min oldefar[s]så alle samlet seg der. Det var fem brødre, så det er en stor familie,” fortalte en nabo og slektning til Bennington Banner.
«Han ryddet opp og jobbet på gården. Jeg tror han bare prøvde å få en ny start og prøve å drive familiegården. Og, ja, dette er bare, liksom, det siste jeg forventet,» beklaget den elskede.
Pawlet Selectboard-møtet planlagt tirsdag kveld gikk som planlagt, med blomster plassert ved Crossmans vanlige sete, rapporterte NECN.
«Brian Crossman var en venn og nabo, et hardtarbeidende medlem av samfunnet som nettopp i år gikk opp for å bli med i Pawlet Selectboard,» sa styreleder Mike Beecher om kollegaen som var beregnet til å tjene en ettårsperiode frem til mars 2025.
«Denne tragedien som rammet ham og familien hans har også rammet samfunnet vårt hardt, og vi er rystet og sørger. Våre hjerter går ut til alle som er berørt av dette ødeleggende tapet,» la Beecher til.
