Israel har drept lederen for den væpnede fløyen til Hamas, Saeed Atallah, i et luftangrep i Nord-Libanon lørdag, ifølge Hamas-tilknyttede medier.
Atallah ble drept sammen med tre familiemedlemmer i kystbyen Tripoli mens han var i en palestinsk flyktningleir, ifølge lokale medier.
Dette siste angrepet er en fortsettelse av bølgen av angrep som Israel har satt i gang over hele Libanon med sikte på å utslette Hizbollah-mål.
Atallah var lederen for al-Qassam-brigadene – den militære armen til den palestinske nasjonalistorganisasjonen.
I forrige uke drepte Israel Hizbollahs overhode Hassan Nasrallah – som ble «nøytralisert» ved terrororganisasjonens bunkershovedkvarter i Libanons hovedstad Beirut.
Den jødiske statens utvidede konflikt med Hizbollah i Libanon har kommet med over 2000 sivile tap, ifølge Libanons helsedepartement.
Israel har ikke kommentert lørdagens streik i Tripoli.
Imidlertid skrøt Israel Defense Forces X-konto av deres militære suksess den siste uken.
«I løpet av de siste 4 dagene har IDF eliminert 2000+ militære mål og 250 Hizbollah-terrorister,» heter det i innlegget, «5 bataljonssjefer, 10 kompanisjefer, 6 troppsjefer.»
Tidligere denne uken ble Israel truffet av en stormflod av raketter fra Iran i en klar eskalering av konflikten som nærmer seg ettårsjubileet. Israels statsminister Benjamin Netanyahu har sagt at han ikke vil utelukke et angrep på Irans atomrelaterte anlegg.
