Og lokale dvergpapegøyer har bedre lang penger hvis de håper å bli hektet på denne frodige øya.
«Long Island tar kaken (og spiser den sannsynligvis også) som det dyreste stedet å utveksle løfter,» advarer bryllupsforskere i en ny studie.
Kystlokaliteten rangerer som nr. 1 av de dyreste bryllupsdestinasjonene i USA, ifølge en fersk rapport fra GroomsDay, et virtuelt knutepunkt for groomsman-gaver.
Dataene deres om store dager fant ut at i gjennomsnitt bruker kjæresten svimlende $58 245 for å bytte «I do’s» i det pittoreske paradiset – som ligger like utenfor Big Apple.
«Disse tallene viser virkelig hvordan postnummeret for bryllupet ditt kan lukke lommeboken din,» sa GroomsDay-grunnlegger Chris Bajda, og la merke til at kostnadene for et bryllup på Long Island er nesten 70 % over landsgjennomsnittet på $34,679.
«Men her er tingen,» fortsatte proffen, «et $ 60 000 bryllup garanterer ikke 60 000 magiske øyeblikk.»
Og han har rett på pengene.
Ettersom bryllupskostnadene fortsetter å stige på grunn av inflasjon, har kontantbevisste par blitt stadig mer kreative for å holde utgiftene lave.
Maria Cortese fra Poughkeepsie, New York, unngikk iøynefallende prislapper ved å trykke på ChatGPT for å koordinere bryllupet hennes i august 2024.
«Jeg sparer så mye penger,» sa hun til The Post før hun gikk ned midtgangen. «Jeg trenger ikke en bryllupsplanlegger. AI gjør alt.»
Den kommende bruden Caroline Spain, 27, fra East Village fortalte også tidligere til The Post at hun og brudgommen Stephen nekter å betale ut over 100 000 dollar for å være vertskap for bryllupet deres en lørdag kveld i NYC.
I stedet kaster de nøysomme forloverne en ukedagsfest på et slott i Dublin, Irland, denne måneden. Å ta steget langt utenfor byens grenser sparer tosomheten rundt 70 000 dollar.
Andre lokale elsklinger – i hvert fall de som håper å spare litt deig – ville være lurt å vurdere en seremoni langt hjemmefra også.
Landing nr. 2 på listen over USAs mest dyre hotspots for bryllup er upstate Westchester, New York, hvor nygifte bruker omtrent $48 100 på de fancy festene.
Like elegante byer som Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Boston, Massachusetts; og Hartford, Connecticut, fulgte henholdsvis Long Island og Westchester på GroomsDays elegante liste.
Ekspertene analyserte bryllupskostnadsdata – som inkluderte prisene på forlovelsesringer, spillesteder, antrekk og transport – fra forskjellige byer og stater over hele landet.
For data på statlig nivå ble gjennomsnittlige bryllupsutgifter i 2024 beregnet basert på undersøkelser av mer enn 4000 par, forutsatt en gjesteliste på 100 personer. Kostnader på bynivå ble hentet fra tusenvis av nylige paranmeldelser på WeddingWire, noe som gjenspeiler faktiske priser for ulike bryllupstjenester.
Nesten gifte i Salt Lake City, Utah, kan puste lettet ut ettersom den snødekte scenen har blitt kåret til den billigste bryllupsdestinasjonen i Amerika. Det koster bare 27 210 dollar å bytte ringer i den kjølige havn, ifølge funnene.
Par i Kansas City, Missouri; Charleston South Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida; og Portland, Oregon, kan gi fra seg et «puh!» også, ettersom byer på landsbygda rangert etter SLC blant de fem billigste områdene for hellige ekteskap.
Men uansett hvor betydelige andre gjør det, sier Bajda at den spesielle anledningen handler mer om kjærlighet enn luksus.
«Det handler om å skape disse ‘wow’-øyeblikkene uten ‘ow’ til bankkontoen din,» sa han.
«På slutten av dagen handler det om å feire kjærlighetshistorien din, ikke tømme sparepengene dine.»
