Yankees har oppdaget et nytt offensivt våpen.
I hvert fall så lenge Guardians venstrehendte Joey Cantillo er på haugen.
Cantillo, 24, kastet fire ville toner mens han møtte fire slagere mandag kveld, og mangelen på kontroll tillot Yankees å ta kommandoen over kamp 1 i ACLS på Yankee Stadium.
Den eneste pitcheren som har kastet mer i en opptreden etter sesongen, er Rick Ankiel, som hadde fem i kamp 1 i 2000 NLDS da han utviklet et tilfelle av yips for Cardinals som aldri ble borte.
Ankiel ga til slutt opp pitching for å bli en slager.
Cantillo gikk inn i mandagens kamp med to outs og basene ladet i bunnen av tredje omgang for å prøve å holde Guardians i et håndterbart 1-0-hull.
Han satte en ball som gjorde at Aaron Judge kunne score, og så skjøt han en til bakstopperen som tillot den saktefotede Giancarlo Stanton å score.
Begge løpene ble belastet til starter Alex Cobbs rekord.
Villskapen fortsatte inn i den fjerde omgangen da Gleyber Torres startet med walk og deretter avanserte 180 fot på ytterligere to ville plasser før Cantillo nådefullt ble trukket.

Cantillo gjorde den andre opptredenen etter sesongen i sin unge karriere etter å ha jobbet en ren omgang i ALDS, og Cantillo var over alt.
Han kastet bare syv av 21 plasser for slag, og gikk tre av de fire slagerne han møtte i en 1/3 av en omgang (Alex Verdugo strikeout).
Cantillo kastet fire ville plasser i 38 2/3 omganger i løpet av den ordinære sesongen.
