Hvorfor lage en full Thanksgiving-pålegg når du kan få en smak av alle Tyrkia-favorittene dine i en matbit?
DiGiorno, i enda et år, selger sin berømte Thanksgiving-pizza med alle tilbehørene – grønne bønner, saus, ost, løk, tranebær og selvfølgelig kalkun – på toppen av en pizzaskorpe i Detroit-stil.
Den frosne paien på $10 vil være tilgjengelig eksklusivt i Kroger-butikker til slutten av november.
I 2023 debuterte DiGiorno pizzaen i begrenset opplag, og satte i gang kontrovers på nettet om passende pålegg, da kalkundagen så ut til å bli mer omstridt enn ananas.
På Today Show testet Hoda Kotb og Jenna Bush Hager sammensetningen live på lufta, da en forsiktig Hager sa at hun «ikke var sikker på at Thanksgiving og pizza trenger å komme sammen.»
«Fra Friendsgiving-fester til Turkey Day-bord, vi er begeistret for å tilby en dristig ny måte å sette pris på den tradisjonelle Thanksgiving-spredningen på,» sa Kimberly Holowiak, senior merkevaresjef for DiGiorno, tidligere til Food and Wine i en uttalelse i fjor.
«Vår lidenskap er pizza, og vi leter alltid etter unike måter å tilføre den nybakte smaken av DiGiorno inn i feiringsøyeblikk – selv de mest tradisjonelle feriemiddagene.»
Men dette er ikke den første maten med Thanksgiving-smak som har blitt laget de siste årene.
I fjor lanserte Baskin-Robbins en iskremsmak kalt Turkey Day Fixin’s, og Pringles solgte en gang Thanksgiving-inspirerte potetgull noen år tidligere.
En undersøkelse fra 2019 fant at amerikanere lengter etter et alternativ til kalkun på Thanksgiving. På det tidspunktet sa 64 % av de spurte at de ville være åpne for å bytte ut hovedretten, og 30 % hadde allerede gjort det, med noen deltakere som beklaget tidkrevende forberedelser og matlaging, mens andre ønsket å eliminere stress.
