Colin Jost delte en morsom «fotoppdatering» på Instagram søndag etter at han måtte forlate jobben som NBC-korrespondent som dekket OL-surfekonkurransen på Tahiti på grunn av en fotskade og flere sykdommer.
Den 42 år gamle komikeren filmet en video der han snakket til kameraet som en nyhetsreporter foran Middelhavet på Malta.
«Dude, er du OK?» Det er nei. 1 tekstmelding jeg har mottatt de siste 48 timene. Vanligvis etterfulgt av «Hørte foten din falt av,» begynte Jost i videoen sin.
«Vel, jeg har det faktisk bra!» la han til. «Og til tross for hva store mediekonspirasjoner ville få deg til å tro, ble jeg ikke ‘sendt hjem’ fra OL. NBC så rett og slett på maten min, erklærte meg lovlig som spedalsk, og forviste meg hit, til øya Malta!»
Jost fortsatte: «Nå har ikke Malta mange olympiere som konkurrerer i år, men det har tusenvis av 15 år gamle britiske barn som konkurrerer om hvem som kan slå ut raskest, og på en eller annen måte vinner de alle. Det har også dette kasinoet bak meg, hvor jeg har tjent hundrevis av dollar jeg har tjent som surfekorrespondent.»
«Men den virkelige grunnen til at jeg er på Malta er selvfølgelig fordi det var stedet for 10 separate utbrudd av byllepest. Så de trodde jeg ville passe inn.»
Etter å ha slått noen flere vitser om OL-breakdance-konkurransen, fotbilder og Peacock, takket «Saturday Night Live»-stjernen folket på Tahiti «for deres varme, gjestfrihet, generøsitet og for at de bare av og til så på foten min og hvisket. ‘Chupacabra!’ «
«Men vær trygg,» fortsatte han, «foten min er ganske bra – selv om jeg ikke lar deg se på den.

Jost kuttet foten på et korallrev mens han dekket OL på Tahiti.
Han la ut et bilde av sine bandasjerte og blodige sår via sosiale medier 29. juli.
«Du vet at det går bra når du har vært i det olympiske legeteltet mer enn noen av utøverne,» skrev han i bildeteksten.
Josts helseproblemer ble verre da han utviklet en staph-infeksjon og en ørebetennelse.
«Jeg våknet i morges og oppdaget at jeg hadde lagt ørebetennelse til min voksende liste over plager,» sa han i et intervju fra bassenget på Tahiti 30. juli.
«Så jeg er nå på tre forskjellige medisiner – fire hvis du teller piña coladas,» la han morsomt til.
Jost forlot senere rollen som NBCs surfekonkurransekorrespondent på grunn av plagene hans.
Han ble erstattet av det australske værankeret Luke Bradnam, som allerede var på Tahiti og dekket OL.
Bradnam innrømmet at han ikke visste hvem Jost var da de møttes på Tahiti før han overtok jobben hans.
«Jeg sa til en av tjenestemennene ‘Hvem er det?’, og hun sier: ‘Du vet hvem han er,’» husket Bradnam i et intervju med Reuters 4. august.
«Og jeg sier: ‘Jeg vet ikke.’ Hun sier: «Han er gift med Scarlett Johansson. Han er fra «Saturday Night Live,» la Bradnam til.
