Derrick Rose kaller det en karriere etter 15 NBA-sesonger.
Den tidligere Knicks-punktvakten kunngjorde pensjonisttilværelsen på Instagram torsdag, og la ut et bilde av ham med en avis, som inkluderte et kjærlighetsbrev til basketball.
«Neste kapittel handler om å jage drømmene mine og dele veksten min,» sa Rose til The Athletic.
«Jeg tror ekte suksess kommer fra å bli den du ble skapt til å være, og jeg vil vise verden hvem jeg er utover basketball.
«Enten det er bra eller dårlig, har alle en «hva hvis»-historie i livet sitt. Selv om jeg kunne, ville jeg ikke endret noe i mitt, for det var det som hjalp meg å finne ekte glede.»
Det kom etter at Rose, som fyller 35 år i oktober, delte en Instagram-video av ham mens han holder en rose mens han journalførte, med teksten: «The Renascence 9.26.24.»
Grizzlies ga fra seg Rose på mandag.
Rose, nummer 1 i draften i 2008, var den yngste MVP i NBA-historien i 2011, da han var 22 år gammel.
Rose var årets Rookie 2009 og en tre ganger All-Star som spilte for Bulls, Knicks, Cavaliers, Timberwolves, Pistons og Grizzlies.
Det som imidlertid kunne vært en generasjonskarriere, ble holdt tilbake av en rekke kneskader.
