Det er nei Shane i spillet hennes.
Charlotte Shane, en tidligere sexarbeider som sørget for de velstående 1%, snakker ut om sengetøyforretningsmenn i en slem ny memoarbok.
Forfatterens frekke tome «An Honest Woman: A Memoir of Love and Sex Work» kom i hyllene 13. august, og beskriver den frekke livsstilen hun levde i over et tiår, da hun sov med elitemenn på hoteller.
Før Shane gikk inn i eskortebransjen, var Shane på et kvinnestudieprogram – men den amorøse akademikeren bestemte seg til slutt for å vie seg til menn og hennes umettelige ønsker.
«Jeg ble sexarbeider fordi jeg mistenkte, og håpet, det ville være på denne måten: en privat, mindre form for kjendis. En alternativ versjon av meg selv», heter det i et utdrag av memoarene hennes, publisert i The Wall Street Journal.
I boken avslører hun hvordan velstående menn jobbet seg rundt i den tabubelagte virksomheten, skravlet med kvinner på luksuriøse hoteller og utvekslet hemmelige kodeord.
«Det hjalp at ulovlighetsinduserte eufemismer gjorde dialogen til affekt,» skrev hun i beretningen. «Intrigert» betydde kåt, «besøk» eller «tilbringe tid med» betydde å ha sex med, «venn» betydde gjentatt kunde.»
Shane husket øyeblikket hun hadde interaksjon med en klient ved navn Roger, en 54 år gammel saksøker i Washington, DC Selv om paret skulle møtes på et Marriott sentrum klokken 21.00, ankom Shane ved et uhell 12 timer tidligere klokken 09.00 kledd i » konvensjonelle forretningsantrekk,» iført en blå skreddersydd skiftkjole.
Selv om hun ikke med vilje planla å komme så tidlig, kledde hun seg med vilje i antrekk som ville tillate henne adgang til hotellet og få henne til å føle at hun «fortjente å være der».
Roger var enig i at Shane mer enn fortjente å være der og «inviterte» henne til å møtes igjen og igjen. Etter det tredje møtet begynte han å tigge om hennes nærvær.
«Jeg må si at hver gang jeg besøker deg, vil jeg gjerne se deg mer,» skrev Roger etter deres tredje date.
Hver gang et møte gikk bra, sørget Shane for å sende en takkemelding til kundene for den «fantastiske kvelden», spesielt til de hun gjerne ville se igjen.
Ganske ofte mottok Shane beundrende meldinger tilbake fra «gifte menn, enslige menn, menn som var skilt, menn noen år eller noen tiår eldre enn meg, menn som var velstående og menn som var rike, og menn som levde i hemmelighet, knusende gjeld.»
Etter år i sexarbeidsbransjen bestemte Shane at det var på tide for henne å trekke seg på grunn av endringene hun ikke var komfortabel med.
«I disse dager må sexarbeidere, selv ansatte uten OnlyFans-kontoer, operere som påvirkere for å annonsere, og for meg trekker det ut for mye uavhengig av kompensasjonen,» skrev hun i et «Meant For You»-blogginnlegg publisert på 10. juli.
Shane innrømmet at markedsføringen hadde utviklet seg siden tidlig på 2010-tallet da profiler inkluderte arkivbilder, champagner og en om meg-seksjon med utdanningsgrader og språk.
Med andre eskorte som la utmerkelser til profilen deres, fikk det Shane til å føle seg usikker på ferdighetene hun hadde å tilby, og spurte om hun ville være i stand til å kreve like mye som andre sexarbeidere.
Shane skrev hvordan hun var «for redd for å bli fanget i en løgn til å late som noe annet.»
Shane sier at hun tror memoarene hennes «inspirer leserne til å elske mer omtenksomt, til å elske bedre,» skrev hun i blogginnlegget «Meant For You».
