Amazons Prime Big Deal Days kommer tilbake denne uken – og populariteten til oktobersalget kan true neste måneds Black Friday som den viktigste shoppingdagen for rabatter.
Amazon-selgere har sett en stor økning i salget under Big Deal Days, som varer fra 8. oktober til 9. oktober, ettersom Prime-medlemmer får eksklusive rabatter og tilbud på en lang rekke produkter.
Jay Kamhi, skaperen av bestselgende Amazon-leker som spåmannen Mr. Predicto, sa at leketøysbutikkene hans så en økning i bruttosalget under den to dager lange begivenheten tidligere.
I fjor tjente butikken hans mer enn 47 000 dollar i løpet av – sammenlignet med rundt 16 000 dollar dager rett før eller rett etter Big Deal-salget.
«Alle ser etter en avtale, så når den dagen kommer, vil det være mye salg,» sa Kamhi til The Post.
Gabe Rays firma Evolved Commerce administrerer rundt 300 kunder i måneden – fra små mamma-og-pop-butikker til Fortune 500-selskaper, hvorav mange selger på Amazon.
Over hele linja opplever den gjennomsnittlige Amazon-leverandøren mellom 250 % og 350 % økning i salget under den to-dagers begivenheten, sa Ray til The Post.
Oktobersalget har funnet suksess, spesielt ettersom flere forbrukere henvendte seg til e-handlere under pandemien.
«Flere og flere mennesker av eldre generasjoner tar det i bruk, og det er lettere å akseptere netthandel» – spesielt ettersom Amazon har forbedret leveringsalternativene samme dag, sa Ray.

Ikke helt, ifølge eksperter.
Black Friday har sett sin popularitet falle de siste årene – fra toppsalgsdagen i 2019 til andreplass i 2021 og 2023, ifølge en salgsprognose fra Bain & Company.
Men den vanvittige shoppingdagen ser ut til å gjøre comeback.
Bain forventer at detaljomsetningen i USA vil nå rekordhøye 75 milliarder dollar i perioden Black Friday og Cyber Monday – noe som representerer en vekst på 5 % siden i fjor.
Omtrent 8 % av det totale helligdagssalget forventes å komme fra Black Friday og Cyber Monday – periodens største andel siden 2019, ifølge Bain.
Selv om det er populært i seg selv, vil Big Deal Days sannsynligvis ikke erstatte Black Friday og Cyber Monday når det gjelder salg, sa Ray.
Men Amazon stjeler fortsatt en andel av Black Friday-kundene fra fysiske butikker, sa Ray.
«Jeg tror de tar bort noen av den delen av folk som ikke vil kjempe mot folkemengdene eller sitte og vente over natten,» sa Ray til The Post. «Det virker som murstein-og-mørtel-avtaler, de blir mindre populære.»
For å motivere kunder til å gå tilbake til butikker, har forhandlere begynt å tilby eksklusive tilbud i butikk.
Og andre store forhandlere skynder seg å konkurrere med Amazons oktober-arrangement. Target, for eksempel, kunngjorde nylig sin Circle Week – som vil gå fra 6. oktober til 12. oktober og overlappe med Prime-arrangementet.
Mens Amazon vil se en salgsboom takket være avtaler i løpet av høytiden, høster ikke leverandører ofte fordelene, sa Kamhi til The Post.
Selgere ser en økning i bruttosalget i løpet av den to-dagers begivenheten – men fortjenesten deres blir rammet, siden kundene holder på å kjøpe i periodene før og etter salget, sa han.
Mens salg fra den to-dagers perioden noen ganger kan være nok til å gjøre opp forskjellen, blir leverandører rammet av flere og flere bøter fra Amazon i år, sa Kamhi.
Leverandører har alltid måtte betale et gebyr for å bli inkludert i spesialtilbud, som Amazons Lightning Deals. Men Prime-eksklusive avtaler har lenge vært et alternativ for leverandører som ikke ønsker å betale ekstraavgiften, sa Kamhi.
Nå tvinger Amazon leverandører til å betale 50 dollar for hvert produkt de vil ha inkludert i Prime-eksklusive avtaler, sa han.
Amazon skaper et miljø der leverandører er avhengige av den elektroniske markedsplassen før den øker gebyrer og skaper ekstra kostnader, sa den mangeårige Amazon-leverandøren
Senest har Amazon tilbudt å hjelpe sine leverandører med distribusjonskostnader, sa han.
Tidligere håndterte leverandører frakt av varer fra fabrikker i Kina til et tredjepartslager. Deretter måtte leverandører betale for å overføre varene fra deres lager til et Amazon-lager.
Nå har Amazon tilbudt å bringe selgers varer til sine egne sentre – en kostnadsbesparende tjeneste som mange leverandører har kommet til å stole på, sa han.
«I løpet av de neste par årene mistenker vi at de nå vil heve prisene fordi vi sitter fast,» sa Kamhi til The Post. «Vi er på en måte fanget kunder.»
