De fleste tingene som Nicholas Sparks lager får fansen til å svime av, men internett har oppdaget en som har gjort dem i avsky.
En nylig profil av den 58 år gamle forfatteren i New York Times etterlot leserne frastøtt av Sparks’ kyllingsalatoppskrift.
Sparks skal ha tilbrakt morgenen av intervjuet med å tilberede kyllingsalat hjemme i North Carolina.
Ingrediensene startet standard og tamme: Den bestselgende forfatteren hakket opp to skinnfrie, beinfrie rotisseriekyllinger, noen stilker selleri og en Vidalia-løk.
Men dressingen var det som fikk leserne til å heve øyenbrynene. Blandingen inkluderte majones, dill sylteagurk relish, jalapeño relish, eplecidereddik, en dæsj salt og pepper, kajennepepper – og 16 pakker Splenda.
«Du kan bruke ekte sukker, men hvorfor kaste sukker i hvis du kan bruke Splenda?» Det sa Sparks til intervjueren.
Seksten Splenda-pakker tilsvarer to tredjedeler en kopp sukker.
Folk på X, tidligere Twitter, var raske til å uttrykke følelsene sine om forfatterens oppskrift, og mange delte at de er «så opprørt».
«Dette er det nest mest forbannede jeg har lest i morges,» sa noen.
«Absolutt psyko,» kommenterte en annen.
«Fra sør og vi er kjent for å bruke uanstendige mengder sukker, men jeg har aldri engang vurdert å legge det i kyllingsalat,» sa en bruker.
«Ærlig talt henger munnen min åpen her,» sa en.
