En amerikansk domstol har beordret den konkursrammede kryptovalutabørsen FTX til å betale 12,7 milliarder dollar i lettelse til sine kunder, sa Commodity Futures Trading Commission i en uttalelse torsdag.
I mars ble FTX-grunnlegger Sam Bankman-Fried dømt til 25 års fengsel for å ha stjålet 8 milliarder dollar fra kunder.
«Ordret krever at FTX betaler 8,7 milliarder dollar i oppreisning og 4 milliarder dollar i uttak, som vil bli brukt til ytterligere å kompensere ofre for tap som er påført som et resultat av det massive bedragerske opplegget orkestrert av Samuel Bankman-Fried,» sa kommisjonen.
FTX hadde tidligere forpliktet seg til en konkursavvikling som vil betale tilbake kunder hvis innskudd ble låst under kryptobørsens kollaps i slutten av 2022.
FTX har sagt at kundene deres vil få 100 % gjenvinning av sine krav mot selskapet, basert på verdien av kontoene deres på det tidspunktet selskapet begjærte seg konkurs.
CFTC-avtalen løser en potensiell veisperring for tilbakebetalingen, og sikrer at regjeringens søksmål mot FTX ikke vil redusere midlene som er tilgjengelige for FTX-kunder.
