En søvntrend som får gjennomslag blant par har sølt inn i reisekretsen ettersom flere sier at de ønsker soveordninger som er atskilt fra partnerne deres.
I trenden kalt «søvnskilsmisse», søker reisende par angivelig etter måter å få mer lukket øyne på i ferien, ifølge Hiltons 2025 Trends-rapport.
Det Virginia-baserte gjestfrihetsselskapet sa at nesten to tredjedeler av reisende, eller 63 %, innrømmer at de sover bedre når de er alene.
«Faktisk foretrekker 37 % av reisende å sove i en separat seng fra partneren når de reiser, og de fleste som reiser med barn (3 av 4) tror det er best å sove bortsett fra barna mens de reiser,» heter det i Hiltons reiserapport. . «Så planlegg solo-turen. Tilbakestill under familiegjenforeningen.»
I 2023 ble «søvnskilsmisse» utforsket i en undersøkelse fra Illinois-baserte American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), med par som sa at de sov i separate rom for å «prioritere søvn.»
Menn var mer sannsynlig å sove andre steder, med 45% av dem sa at de gjør det «av og til eller konsekvent,» sammenlignet med 25% av kvinnene, sa undersøkelsen.
Stacy Thiry, en Florida-basert lisensiert mental helserådgiver ved telehealth-plattformen Grow Therapy, tok opp forestillingen om «søvnskilsmisse» som beveger seg inn i reiseverdenen, og sa at trenden kan ha «fordeler og ulemper.»
«Den første [benefit] er de bare får bedre hvile, sa Thiry til Fox News Digital i et telefonintervju. «Å sove separat lar hver person ha miljøet de trenger for avslappende søvn, enten det er et kjøligere rom, ingen snorking eller bare fred.»

Søvnekspert Dr. Wendy Troxel, senior atferdsspesialist i RAND Corporation og lisensiert klinisk psykolog i Utah, var enig i at noen par velger å sove hver for seg mens de er på ferie med «målet om å forbedre søvnkvaliteten.»
Troxel sa til Fox News Digital, «Denne trenden reflekterer en økende bevissthet om at søvn er avgjørende ikke bare for personlig helse og velvære, men også for forholdets helse.»
Forskning «viser konsekvent» at søvnproblemer kan føre til symptomer på økt irritabilitet, dårligere problemløsningsevner og større konflikter, bemerket Troxel i sin bok, «Sharing the Covers: Every Couple’s Guide to Better Sleep.»
«Alt som kan påvirke forhold negativt,» sa hun til Fox News Digital.

En talsperson for Hilton fortalte Fox News Digital via e-post at selskapets forskning viser at gjester har økt fokus på å få en god natts søvn mens de er på ferie.

For reisende som ønsker å delta i «søvnskilsmisse»-trenden, tilbyr noen hoteller sammenhengende rom, «ettersom de lar familier eller par holde seg i nærheten mens de fortsatt nyter søvnkvaliteten som separate senger og rom kan tilby», sa talspersonen.
