Jeg har planlagt et Zoom-intervju med tre ledere. Jeg har ikke intervjuet på veldig lenge og aldri av Zoom. Er det greit å referere til notater? Jeg er veldig nervøs for det.
Hvis det får deg til å føle deg bedre, ta litt trøst med det faktum at du kan gjøre intervjuet hjemmefra, eller et hvilket som helst miljø som får deg til å føle deg komfortabel – bare sørg for at du har et rolig sted og at kjæledyr og rørleggere ikke vil avbryte deg.
Den andre fordelen er at du via Zoom kan referere til notater på en måte du ikke kan personlig – men ikke la dem få vite at du er det.
Her er et enkelt hack: Tape nøkkelpunkter du vil lage på post it-lapper og teip dem i øyehøyde rundt kamera- og datamaskinoppsettet. Da kan du naturligvis referere til dem uten at folk vet at du ser på dem.
Bare ikke vær tydelig og les ordrett det du har skrevet. Og hvis du ikke har intervjuet på lenge, øv med en venn, og sørg for at lyssettingen og oppsettet får deg til å se bra ut.
Jeg har sendt e-post til HR i mange selskaper innen mitt felt for å prøve å få en stilling, men jeg har ikke fått noen svar tilbake. Er det bortkastet tid? Er det noen som får jobb på denne måten?
Det avhenger av hvordan du definerer «sløsing med tid.» Jeg kan med sikkerhet fortelle deg at det å sende uønskede e-poster til «HR» med spørsmål om ledige jobber er en av de minst produktive jobbsøkeaktivitetene.
Litt mer produktivt – men fortsatt ikke veldig effektivt – er å svare på stillingsannonser på nett på de store jobbsamlernettstedene som Indeed.
Det betyr ikke at du ikke skal søke på jobber på denne måten, men siden mange tusen søkere ser og søker på de samme jobbene er det veldig vanskelig å skille seg ut. Finn i det minste et navn og send e-post til en person om en bestemt jobbåpning, bruk e-posten som følgebrev og legg ved CV-en din.
Den mest produktive jobbsøkingen er imidlertid ved nettverksbygging. Hvert selskap foretrekker å ansette noen som er en henvisning fra noen de stoler på. Og når du sender en e-post, hvis du kan si at du ble henvist av en gjensidig forbindelse, er det langt mer sannsynlig at du får svar.
