Brittany Snow og Penn Badgley har antydet at de kanskje ikke kommer tilbake for oppfølgeren til 2006s «John Tucker Must Die», som angivelig er under utvikling.
I episoden 4. juli av Badgleys podcast, «Podcrushed», avslørte de tidligere medstjernene at de ikke har blitt kontaktet for å gjenta rollene deres, Kate og Scott.
«Penn, jeg vet ikke om du har fått en samtale, men jeg har ikke fått noen oppringning,» sa Snow, 38, som svar på spørsmål om oppfølgeren.
Badgley, 37, svarte: «Ja, jeg har ikke fått noen telefon, nei. Jeg mener, det er kanskje mulig som superposisjon kvantefysikk, som om alt er potensielt innenfor riket av, som, kanskje dette eplet vil falle opp, jeg kan faktisk ikke si med sikkerhet.»
Deres andre «John Tucker»-medspillere Jesse Metcalfe, Arielle Kebbel og Sophia Bush avslørte at det fantes et manus for en potensiell oppfølger til rom-com fra begynnelsen av 2000-tallet mens de ble gjenforent på Epic Cons Chicago i mars.
Metcalfe, 45, hørte rykter om manuset til den andre filmen, men hadde ikke lest det ennå.
«Jeg har hørt rumling om dette manuset som sirkulerer Hollywood – tilsynelatende er det utrolig,» sa han den gang. «Jeg vil definitivt elske å være en del av den, og jeg gleder meg til å lese den.»
«Ryktet er sant,» bekreftet Kebbel, 39. «Jeg begynte å produsere for noen år siden. Det er et manus. Vi er veldig stolte av det. Det involverer hele OG-besetningen.»
Bush, 41, sa i mellomtiden at hun var «klar til å gå» for å jobbe med prosjektet også.
Den originale filmen fulgte tre videregående elever (Bush, Kebbel og Ashanti) som oppdager at de alle dater John Tucker (Metcalfe). De planlegger deretter å planlegge sin hevn og verver Snows Kate til å hjelpe.
I «Podcrushed»-episoden innrømmet Snow å være ute av løkken på den siste utviklingen, til tross for tidligere samtaler med Kebbel om prosjektet.
«Jeg har snakket med Arielle om dette i årevis fordi hun prøvde å få det fra bakken, men jeg visste ikke hva som skjedde,» forklarte Snow. «Og det var på en måte bare, jeg var sånn: «Fortsett med det.» Men så, det var det siste jeg hadde hørt om det, var at hun prøvde å få det til. Og så jeg antar at hun gjorde det? Så, ja, jeg vil lese hva enn folk [send me]. De har jobbet veldig hardt.»
Badgley stilte spørsmål ved hvordan hans lille rolle som Johns bror Scott i den originale filmen kunne medvirke til en ny historie, men Snow insisterte på at hun ikke kunne gjøre det uten skuespilleren som spilte hennes kjærlighetsinteresse.
Ler sa «Pitch Perfect»-stjernen: «Jeg gjør det ikke hvis du ikke gjør det.»
«Aldri har jeg engang tenkt på det som en potensiell ting. Men jeg antar at hvis det fantes et manus, ville jeg lest det, la Badgley til.
Metcalfe utvidet oppfølgerens historie i et intervju med E! Nyheter. Han understreket at oppfølgeren fremhever karakterens vekst og at fortellingen er mer «samvittighetsfull» enn originalen og «ikke fullt så kvinnefiendtlig.»
«Min karakter har en flott bue,» sa han i april. «John har en datter, og du vet hvor redd han er for at hun skal få John Tuckered.»
Filmen har ikke fått grønt lys ennå, men skuespilleren håper det «veldig morsomme» manuset vil hjelpe prosjektet med å komme i gang.
«Forhåpentligvis vil det presse den over målstreken,» bemerket han. «Vi er i et Y2K-øyeblikk akkurat nå, når nostalgi alltid selger. Så jeg er optimistisk at filmen blir laget.»
