Julianne Hough blir åpen om overgrep i tidlig barndom.
Mens hun var på «The Jamie Kern Lima Show» torsdag, sa 36-åringen at hennes «første erfaring» med seksuelle overgrep var da hun vokste opp i Utah «omtrent 4 år gammel».
Hough delte at gjerningsmannen var en «nabo», og kalte det en «veldig forvirrende tid.»
«Det var ikke mange konsekvenser for det som hadde skjedd – og forresten, jeg er ikke den eneste i familien min som har gått gjennom lignende ting,» sa hun. «Og så det var en veldig utfordrende ting å komme overens med. Ingen gjorde noe.»
Hough innrømmet at dette var første gang hun var offentlig åpen om overgrepet, og la merke til at hun «aldri har sagt det høyt til noen i et intervju før.»
«Dancing With the Stars»-dommeren tok seg deretter et øyeblikk til å reflektere over hvordan hun følte seg gjennom slike traumatiske tider som ung jente.
«Å være så ung, og det som er dine første opplevelser – enten det er fysisk, mentalt, seksuelt – maktmisbruk til noen som er sårbare for det – det setter umiddelbart en presedens for: andre mennesker har makten,» sa Hough til vert.
«Footloose»-skuespillerinnen endte opp med å betro seg til foreldrene om overgrepet «senere fordi [she] glemte det.»
Etter å ha møtt andre erfaringer med overgrep som 15-åring, bestemte Hough seg imidlertid for at det var på tide å fortelle foreldrene hennes hva som hadde skjedd.
«Jeg begynte å dele disse tingene, men jeg hadde glemt nabo-tingen som 4-åring før jeg virkelig begynte å gjøre dette arbeidet de siste årene,» husket danseren.
Hough innrømmet at hun «sperret ut fra fødselen til 10, hovedsakelig fordi jeg hadde tatt helt avstand fra at det noen gang skulle skje».
Utah-innfødte fortalte at foreldrene hennes «følte skyldfølelse» etter å ha lært hva hun hadde vært gjennom.
«På den tiden, da jeg var yngre, tror jeg de heller ikke visste hva de skulle gjøre,» sa Hough. «Og var også i en posisjon hvor de ikke følte seg kapable eller også følte seg hjelpeløse. Vi har definitivt gått gjennom samtale etter samtale som: ‘Men vi skjønner det nå, ikke sant? Og vi er på samme side? Jeg klandrer deg ikke nå, men jeg trengte definitivt mer den gangen. «
Men hun var i stand til å gjenopprette kontakten med foreldrene sine under bruddet i 2020 fra eksmannen Brooks Laich.
«Under skilsmissen min var det da jeg virkelig fikk kontakt med foreldrene mine og de dukket opp for meg – som foreldrene mine,» husket Hough. «Og jeg trengte det. Jeg tok tilbake foreldreforholdet mitt til dem, og jeg fikk være barnet og de måtte ta vare på meg. Og det var det mest helbredende [thing].»
I disse dager har «Safe Haven»-alunen gjort arbeidet med å helbrede og reflektere over livet hennes mens hun skrev sin nye roman «Everything We Never Knew.»
«Nå, som voksen, og helbredelsen jeg har gått gjennom, vil jeg faktisk snakke mer om det, og jeg tror det er ubehagelig å ha disse samtalene om og om igjen,» sa Hough, «fordi det ikke bare er, «OK, vi har hatt denne samtalen en gang, og nå er vi bra.» Jeg tror du må ha de samtalene for å føle den tryggheten og tryggheten at jeg får det. Jeg skjønner det virkelig.»
I mellomtiden vet hun at ikke alle vil være villige til å ha disse samtalene.
Hough la til: «Noen ganger vil folk ikke få det, og noen ganger vil folk ikke ha disse samtalene om og om igjen, og så det er hele, jeg må komme tilbake til meg selv. Er jeg trygg nå? Går det bra?»
