Kong Charles III hyllet fredag »motstandskraften» til mange som overskygget «aggresjonen» og «kriminaliteten» til et mindre antall mennesker midt i noen av de verste urolighetene i Storbritannias historie, sa Buckingham Palace.
Kongen har blitt kritisert for ikke å uttale seg tidligere mot opptøyene som startet etter at tre unge jenter ble drept i et knivstikkingangrep 29. juli i en by nær Liverpool og feilinformasjon spredt på sosiale medier etter drapene og en arrestasjon.
Kongen og kongefamilien er for tiden i Skottland for sin årlige sommerferie.
«Kongen delte hvordan han hadde blitt sterkt oppmuntret av de mange eksemplene på fellesskapsånd som hadde motarbeidet aggresjonen og kriminaliteten fra noen få med medfølelsen og motstandskraften til de mange,» sa palasset i en uttalelse. «Det er fortsatt hans majestets håp at felles verdier om gjensidig respekt og forståelse vil fortsette å styrke og forene nasjonen.»
Charles ga også sin «hjerteligste takk til politiet og nødetatene for alt de gjør for å gjenopprette freden i de områdene som har blitt rammet av voldelig uorden», la palasset til, ifølge BBC News.
Den britiske statsministeren Keir Starmer sa mandag at en «stående hær» av spesialistpoliti vil bli satt opp for å håndtere opptøyer, og at rettssystemet vil økes for å håndtere hundrevis av arrestasjoner etter at voldelig uorden rystet byer over hele nasjonen over hele landet. forrige uke.

Opptøyer og protester som involverer hundrevis av mennesker har skapt kaos i byer og byer over hele landet, med dusinvis av politifolk innlagt på sykehus etter å ha blitt truffet med murstein, flasker, stoler og store trestolper.
Falske innlegg i sosiale medier hevdet at den mistenkte angriperen var en radikal islamist som nylig hadde ankommet Storbritannia. Politiet identifiserte imidlertid angriperen som 17 år gamle Axel Rudakubana, som ble født i Wales av rwandiske foreldre, og sa at myndighetene ikke behandler hendelsen som terrorrelatert.

Kongen har tidligere gitt ut en melding på sosiale medier hvor han sa at han og dronning Camilla var «dypet sjokkert» over drapene.
«Vi sender våre dypeste kondolanser, bønner og dypeste sympatier til familiene og kjære til dem dere så tragisk har mistet livet, og til alle de som er berørt av dette virkelig forferdelige angrepet.»
Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King og Alice Dasilva Aguiar, som alle var mellom 6 og 9 år gamle, ble myrdet i angrepet mens de deltok på en dansetime i Southport, 27 mil nord for Liverpool. Ti andre ble alvorlig skadet.
Det nasjonale politimesterrådet sa at rundt 741 personer er blitt arrestert i forbindelse med volden, inkludert 304 som er siktet for straffbare forhold.
