Som mange amerikanere fant skuespillerinnen Ali Larter seg begrenset til veggene i hjemmet sitt under COVID-19-pandemien, og kjempet med en ny normal mens hun prøvde å navigere i livet i Los Angeles med familien.
Men i stedet for å dvele ved usikkerhet i The Golden State, bestemte «Legally Blonde»-skuespillerinnen og hennes ektemann, skuespilleren og komikeren Hayes MacArthur, seg for å gå på veien i jakten på noe bedre.
«Bransjen var totalt stillestående og barna våre satt fast på skjermer med ekstern skolegang,» sa MacArthur til Rue Magazine. Paret deler en sønn og en datter. «Så etter et år pakket vi bare bilen og spratt.» Larter fortsatte, «Vi tenkte at det var en mulighet til å dra på eventyr som en familie. Og vi begynte akkurat å kjøre nordover.»
Familien slo seg ned i Sun Valley, Idaho, en sterk sammenstilling av kjas og mas i Los Angeles.
«Vi ble forelsket i fjellenes skjønnhet og deres stille storhet,» forklarte Larter om hvordan en to-måneders tur ble til en permanent flytting. «Ingen av oss hadde noen gang bodd i en liten by før. Folk passer på hverandre. Det er en ekte fellesskapsfølelse her, og vi er så glade for å være en del av det.»
Larter og MacArthur sementerte flyttingen fra LA ved å bygge et nytt 4400 kvadratmeter stort hjem i Sun Valley.
«Å se på fjellene slapper av og inspirerer meg,» forklarte Larter om det nye miljøet sitt. «Mesteparten av tiden i livet mitt føler jeg at jeg går 1000 miles i timen og disse gigantiske steinene slapper av.»
«Fjellene har en måte å sette deg på bakken og bremse deg ned – spesielt … når du sitter fast i trafikken fordi det er en flokk med elg som blokkerer veien,» spøkte MacArthur.
Larter er ikke den eneste kjendisen som nylig har flyttet ut av Los Angeles.
Stjerner som Mark Wahlberg, Julia Roberts, Ana de Armas, Kelly Clarkson og Candace Cameron Bure har alle forlatt byen på grunn av formildende omstendigheter; sikkerhet, en ny start eller å være nærmere familien.
