Det er alle fornærmelsers mor.
Miss America- og Miss World-konkurransene utestenger enten noen eller alle mødre fra konkurransene deres – men en New Yorker med en 6 år gammel gutt håper å endre det.
Danielle Hazel, sammen med sin berømte kvinnerettighetsadvokat, Gloria Allred, avslørte mandag at hun har sendt inn en diskrimineringsklage mot konkurransene til byens menneskerettighetskommisjon.
«Å være gravid eller være forelder er ikke en forbrytelse,» sa Allred.
Den juridiske utfordringen fra Hazel, en 25 år gammel mor fra Brooklyn, sier at Miss America-arrangementet bare tillater kvinnelige deltakere uten «lovlige pårørende», mens Miss World-deltakere må være «ugifte, ikke ha barn og ikke er gravide. ”
Stuart Moskovitz, advokat for Miss America-arrangementet, insisterte overfor The Post på mandag: «Det er ikke noe forbud mot mødre» – bare for de som har lovlig omsorg for barna sine.
«Det eneste forbudet er der det er nødvendig for å beskytte barnets velferd,» sa Moskovitz, og hevdet at Miss America jobber «365 dager i året» og er travlere enn presidenten i USA.
Så i motsetning til det amerikanske militæret, hvor enslige mødre har lov til å tjene og utplassere så lenge de har en «familieomsorgsplan», tillater ikke den utmattende Miss America-konkurransen slik innkvartering, selv om villige og dyktige vaktmestere er tilgjengelige for å hjelpe med barnepass.
«Hvis du har en juridisk avhengig, må du ta vare på den juridiske avhengige,» sa Moskovitz. «Enhver kvinne som setter å konkurrere i denne konkurransen over barnets velferd, vel, hun er uansett ikke en Miss America.»
Selv om det er «delt foreldrerett, så er det barnet satt i fare,» sa advokaten hvis slike mødre skulle konkurrere.
Hazel sa at drømmen hennes siden hun var barn var å konkurrere i en stor konkurranse, og at hun ble «ødelagt da jeg senere fikk vite at det å ha sønnen min diskvalifiserte meg fra å konkurrere.»
Den følelsen av urettferdighet gikk ikke tapt på hennes unge sønn Zion, som fortalte moren sin at reglene var «dumme», sa hun.
«Jeg vil ikke at jeg og andre kvinner skal bli holdt tilbake av disse diskriminerende innreisereglene,» sa Hazel. «Jeg vil også vise alle at mødre også kan være filantroper, talsmenn og skjønnhetsdronninger.»
Allred la til: «Vi søker en slutt på det diskriminerende kravet til begge konkurranser som vi mener nekter og ekskluderer Danielle og andre mødre fra en viktig forretnings- og kulturell mulighet bare på grunn av deres status som foreldre.»
Klagen ble kunngjort ved siden av Women’s Rights Pioneers Monument på Central Park Mall på Manhattan.
Sammen med Hazel for å kunngjøre sin juridiske utfordring mandag var Veronika Didusenko, som ble kronet som Miss Ukraine i 2018, men mistet tittelen da tjenestemenn fra Miss World oppdaget at hun hadde et barn.
«En av dommerne ved Miss Ukraine-arrangementet pekte på meg live på lufta og sa: ‘Hun fikk et barn i en alder av 19 og ble deretter skilt. Jeg synes det er feil å gjøre en slik person til et forbilde,» fortalte Didusenko mandag.
Didusenko er nå en korsfarer for mødre i skjønnhetskonkurranseverdenen.
Allred har allerede vunnet mødre på vestkysten da hun kjempet mot en lignende regel på vegne av en mor i California, Andrea Quiroga, som ble blokkert fra å delta i Miss California-konkurransen på grunn av sitt morskap. Et forlik førte til eliminering av konkurransens 70-årige forbud mot mødre.
For denne nye drakten sikter Allred og Hazel på de to gjenværende store konkurransene for å hjelpe neste generasjon mødre å unngå diskriminering med et håp om et lignende utfall.
«Ingen av disse tingene endres med mindre vi utfordrer dem,» sa Allred.
En representant for Miss World-arrangementet svarte ikke på en postforespørsel om kommentar.
