Prins Harry vurderer å reise tilbake til Storbritannia for å delta i begravelsen til sin onkel Robert Fellowes – men bare «hvis det ikke forårsaker for mye drama,» har kameraten hans avslørt.
Hertugen av Sussex, 39, skal ha vært i kontakt med sin tante og søskenbarn, samt sin avdøde mor Dianas bror, Charles Spencer, etter onkelens død.
Lord Fellowes, som var gift med Dianas søster, Lady Jane Fellowes, og fungerte en tid som avdøde dronning Elizabeth IIs private sekretær, døde av ikke avslørte årsaker 29. juli. Han var 82 år.
Siden den gang har det vært mange spekulasjoner om Harry vil delta på den kommende minnemarkeringen i England.
«I normale tider ville det være utenkelig at Harry ikke ville være der for å støtte Jane. Selvfølgelig vil han være der. Det kommer til å bli en enorm samling av Spencer-klanen,” fortalte Harrys venn til Daily Beast.
«Men dette er ikke normale tider, og det kan godt være at alle føler at Harrys oppmøte bare vil skape for mye drama. Det vil være veldig trist for ham hvis han ikke klarer det.»
Skulle tobarnsfaren bestemme seg for å delta, kan flyttingen resultere i et potensielt ansikt-til-ansikt møte med hans fremmedgjorte bror, prins William, og far, kong Charles.
Imidlertid har en kongelig kommentator siden antydet at det er usannsynlig at Fellowes’ død vil være det som bringer de feide brødrene sammen.
«Robert Fellowes’ død vil ikke påvirke familiedynamikken,» sa Michael Cole til Daily Mail. «Prins William og prins Harry har alltid vært på god fot med sin avdøde mors søstre og bror.»
«Bortsett fra å gi deres oppriktige kondolanser til deres tante Jane, vil onkelens død sannsynligvis ha minimal innvirkning på de to kongelige prinsene.»
Når det gjelder hans kone, Meghan Markle, og om hun ville bli med ham – ting er litt mer komplisert.
I forrige måned avslørte hertugen at han ikke vil at «Suits»-alunen skal følge ham på fremtidige reiser til Storbritannia fordi han er bekymret for hennes sikkerhet.
Harry understreket at han tror trusler mot kona hans ville sette henne i fare hvis hun besøkte Storbritannia – en frykt han har uttrykt tidligere.
«Det er fortsatt farlig, og alt som trengs er en ensom skuespiller, en person som leser dette for å handle ut fra det de har lest,» sa Harry på ITVs dokumentar «Tabloids on Trial», med henvisning til det han ser på som brennende tabloidrapportering om hans kone.
«Og om det er en kniv eller syre, hva det enn er, og dette er ting som er av genuin interesse for meg. Det er en av grunnene til at jeg ikke vil bringe min kone tilbake til dette landet.»
Intervjuet kom måneder etter at Harry tapte en juridisk kamp med den britiske regjeringen om hans rett til skattebetalerfinansiert politisikkerhet på hjemmebane.
