Alec Baldwins film «Rust» kommer endelig ut.
Tre år etter at kinematograf Halyna Hutchins ble skutt og drept på settet, vil westernfilmen ha verdenspremiere på Camerimage International Film Festival i Polen i november.
Festivalen kunngjorde torsdag at premieren vil hedre Hutchins, som var 42 år gammel da hun døde.
Etter visningen av filmen vil regissør Joel Souza, kinematograf Bianca Cline og Stephen Lighthill, Halynas mentor ved American Film Institute, delta i et panel for å «diskutere hendelser rundt filmen, og gi innsikt i fortsettelsen av produksjonen etter Halynas død.»
Panelet vil også diskutere «den unike visuelle stilen som Halyna utviklet på settet og forklare hvordan Bianca Cline, som tok over arbeidet hennes, klarte å gjenskape Halynas stil på en bemerkelsesverdig måte.»
Festivalsjef Marek Zydowicz sa i en uttalelse, «Vi visste at arrangementet vårt var viktig for henne, og at hun følte seg hjemme blant kinematografer fra hele verden, som har vært samlet på Camerimage i over 30 år. Under festivalen hedret vi Halynas minne med et øyeblikks stillhet og et panel av kinematografer diskuterte sikkerhet på settet. Nå vil vi igjen, sammen med kinematografer og filmentusiaster, få denne spesielle muligheten til å minnes henne.»
Ifølge Hollywood Reporter vil ikke Baldwin (66) delta på premieren, til tross for at han er hovedrolleinnehaver og produsent på prosjektet.

I oktober 2021 avfyrte Baldwin en ekte pistol feilaktig lastet med en direktesendt runde på settet til «Rust» i New Mexico, og drepte Hutchins og såret Souza, 51.
Filmens rustningsmann, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, ble dømt for ufrivillig drap og dømt til 18 måneders fengsel.
Baldwin ble i mellomtiden siktet for ufrivillig drap.
«30 Rock»-skuespilleren hevdet at han aldri trakk avtrekkeren til rekvisittpistolen. Ifølge etterforskerne inneholdt våpenet en levende runde med ammunisjon når det bare skulle ha inkludert en «blank».
Åttebarnsfaren møtte maksimalt 18 måneder bak murene for Hutchins død.
Men under Baldwins rettssak i juli, kastet dommeren ut saken og slengte påtalemyndigheten for å ha holdt tilbake kritiske bevis fra forsvaret.
Baldwin kan imidlertid stå overfor en rettssak, ettersom påtalemyndigheten fortsetter å forfølge siktelser mot skuespilleren. Spesialaktor Kari Morrissey la inn begjæringer om å revurdere henleggelsen av drapssaken.
«Dette er en røykskjerm laget av forsvaret og var ment å svaie og forvirre retten … og det var vellykket,» sa Morrissey i forslaget den 30. august.
Til tross for Hutchins’ død, fortsatte «Rust»-rollebesetningen og mannskapet – inkludert Baldwin – produksjonen av filmen i april 2023. Cline ble med i prosjektet som kinematograf, mens Hutchins ektemann, Matthew Hutchins, ble en utøvende produsent.
Filmingen ble avsluttet i mai 2023.
Souza fortalte Vanity Fair i august at han først var motvillig til å fullføre filmen, men han ombestemte seg fordi han følte seg «sikker» på at Hutchins «ville ønsket at hennes siste verk skulle bli sett».
«Hvis det var meg som hadde blitt drept i stedet for henne – som det burde ha vært – ville hun gjort det samme,» sa direktøren. «Hun ville presse på for at mitt siste arbeid skulle bli sett.»
«Det er også viktig for Matt,» la Souza til om Hutchins ektemann. «Han vet at det er opprørende for folk som brydde seg om henne og folk som kanskje har satt pris på arbeidet hennes å se det.»
Han bekreftet også at scenen som ble øvd inn da skytingen skjedde «forsvinner i sin helhet» i det siste kuttet.
