Et av tidligere president Donald Trumps kampanjekontorer i Virginia ble begått innbrudd i helgen, og politiet leter etter den mistenkte, sa myndighetene mandag.
Innbruddet fant sted søndag rundt klokken 21 på Trumps valgkampkontor i Ashburn, Va., noe som fikk representanter fra Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office til å svare på stedet, sa sheriffkontoret i en uttalelse.
Videoovervåkingsopptak fanget den innbruddsmistenkte – en hvit voksen mann, iført mørke klær, en mørk baseballcaps og en ryggsekk – da han kom inn på kontoret.
«Det er sjelden å få kontoret til en politisk kampanje eller et parti brutt inn,» sa Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.
«Vi er fast bestemt på å identifisere den mistenkte, undersøke hvorfor det skjedde, og finne ut hva som kan ha blitt tatt, så vel som hva som kan ha blitt etterlatt,» la han til.
Omtrent 30 miles vest for Washington, DC, tjener Trumps kampanjeleie kontor også som hovedkvarter for Virginia 10th District Republican Committee – der republikaneren Mike Clancy konkurrerer mot demokraten Suhas Subramanyam i kongresskappløpet om rep. Jennifer Wextons (D- Va.) Hussete.

Tidligere president Richard Nixons gjenvalgskampanje i 1972 hadde rettet innbrudd i den demokratiske nasjonale komiteens daværende hovedkvarter i Watergate Office Building i Washington, DC.
Det kommer etter at Trump-kampanjen på lørdag anklaget Iran for å ha hacket seg inn på nettsiden deres etter at Politico rapporterte at de hadde mottatt anonyme e-poster som inkluderte interne dokumenter relatert til granskingen av senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) – som ble utpekt som Trumps kandidat. forrige måned.
