Ryktene sier at væskegrensene for håndbagasje på fly kommer til å endres, og det kan hende – men ikke før 2040.
Den gjeldende regelen satt av Transportation Security Administration (TSA) tillater beholdere i reisestørrelse som er 3,4 oz (100 ml) eller mindre av væsker, geler eller aerosoler.
Også kjent som «3-1-1»-regelen, går grensene tilbake til 2006 da terrorister i Storbritannia forsøkte å smugle flytende eksplosiver inn på fly. Begrensningen var bare ment å være midlertidig, men den er fortsatt nesten 20 år senere.
I 2022 var det faktisk et skifte på flyplasser i Storbritannia da nye skannere begynte å rulle ut, og tillot så mange væsker som ønsket i beholdere på opptil to liter takket være Computed Tomography (CT)-enheter som kan bestemme væsker annerledes.
Mens noen få mindre flyplasser har implementert den nye teknologien, falt de større flyplassene bak regjeringspålagte frister. Uansett ble det kunngjort i juni at grensen på 100 ml skulle forbli på plass uansett om flyplassen hadde avansert teknologi eller ikke.
Det kan være håp om en høyere væskegrense i nær fremtid for Europa, men i USA vil det ikke skje med det første.
«TSA distribuerer fortsatt Computed Tomography (CT) enheter som er i stand til å screene større størrelser væsker, men byrået vil ikke kunne endre gjeldende 3-1-1 væskeregel på en stund fremover, fordi det er ca. 2000 skjermingsfelt på rundt 430 flyplasser,» bekreftet en TSA-talsperson overfor Travel + Leisure.
«Vi forventer at det ikke kan være før 2040 at vi har CT-enheter fullt ut distribuert over hele landet og har evnen til å endre kravet på tvers av systemet.»
Så hvis du håper å ta med deg større væsker på flyet, må du vente i omtrent 16 år.
