Hvis du går tom for frimerker, kan det være lurt å kjøpe en bok før heller enn senere.
US Postal Service (USPS) forventes å øke prisen på sine frimerker igjen, noe som vil være andre gang i 2024 at prisen på frimerker øker.
Fra og med 14. juli vil et førsteklasses poststempel «Forever» etter sigende koste 73 cent hver – et hopp på 5 % fra dagens pris på 68 cent.
I april kunngjorde USPS at de hadde sendt melding til Postal Regulatory Commission om sitt forslag til nye frimerkepriser.
Forslaget foreslo også at postprisen på internasjonale postkort og brev heves fra $1,55 til $1,65.
«Postvesenet søker også prisjusteringer for spesialtjenester-produkter, inkludert sertifisert post og postanvisningsgebyrer,» het det i pressemeldingen fra april.
«Spesielt vil det ikke være noen prisøkning for postboksleieavgifter, og postvesenet vil bruke en prisreduksjon på 10 prosent for postforsikring når du sender en vare.»
22. januar 2023 var prisen på frimerker 63 cent hver.
Det økte til 66 cent i juli samme år, og deretter 68 cent i januar 2024.
USPS forklarte at de nye prisene var «nødvendig» for byråets økonomiske helse.
«Når endringer i post- og fraktmarkedet fortsetter, er disse prisjusteringene nødvendige for å oppnå den økonomiske stabiliteten som organisasjonens Delivering for America 10-årsplan ønsker,» sa USPS.
«USPS-prisene er fortsatt blant de rimeligste i verden.»
I følge nettstedet deres, er Delivering for America-planen «veileder transformasjonen av United States Postal Service fra en organisasjon i finansiell og operasjonell krise til en som er selvopprettholdende og gir høy ytelse.»
10-årsplanen begynte i 2021, som var samme år som First-Class Mail Forever-frimerkeprisene steg fra 55 cent til 58 cent.
Fox Business tok kontakt med USPS for kommentar, men hørte ikke tilbake umiddelbart.
